What is on the Yüzgeç menu, and what about prices?
The meze cabinet, hot starters, kebabs from the embers (çökertme kebabı included), salads, pide and dessert; rakı, beer and wine to drink. Prices are not listed on this site — the current list is on the QR menu at the table.
What does Müskebi mean — is it Ortakent's old name?
Yes. Until 1961 the town was called Müsgebi; it became Ortakent because it sat right in the middle of the road. The origin of the name is disputed: local lore ties it to muscat vineyards, linguists to a Greek word. Müskebi is also home to the largest Mycenaean necropolis in Anatolia.
Who runs Yüzgeç?
A family that has run a meyhane in the village of Gürece for close to forty years; Yüzgeç is that family's table by the sea. The same family's meyhane in Gürece is Atgeç, and its Italian kitchen in Ortakent and at Bodrum Marina is Süzgeç.
Is Yüzgeç a fish restaurant in Ortakent?
Yüzgeç is not a fish restaurant but a rakı table by the sea: the meze cabinet, hot starters and kebabs from the embers. From the sea there is fried calamari and shrimp in butter. We would rather say so up front to anyone coming for fish.
